Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell's father was Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl Of EssexGregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell's mother was Elizabeth CromwellGregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell's step-father was Thomas Williams Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell's children. Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell (c. 1514 - 4 July 1551) was born in Putney, Surrey, the son of Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Essex, and Elizabeth Wykes. He was tutored by Richard Southwell, and attended the University of Cambridge. He married Elizabeth Seymour, the aunt of Edward VI. They had five children: Henry, Frances, Catherine, Edward. Gregory Cromwell (played by Tom Holland in Wolf Hall), was born to Thomas Cromwell, a successful London merchant and lawyer, and his wife Elizabeth Wykys, either during the closing weeks of 1519 or early 1520. 1 A miscalculation of the boy’s age and an inaccurate estimation of his birth year (1515/16) by J. Brewer, 2 subsequently accepted.
